Foodies to Flock to the Diggers for Food Truck Festival

4 Oct 2016

The new look Harbord Diggers is proving to be a fresh new venue for local foodies, but now the club is bringing more great cuisine to the Beaches with a Food Truck Festival to be held on Thursday 20 October.

The Diggers Food Truck Festival will be held from 4pm to 9pm in the club’s open air carpark and will include an array of well-known Sydney food trucks in addition to a wealth of family entertainment including live music, a vintage car show and market stalls.

Dale Hunt, General Manager of Harbord Diggers, is pleased locals are visiting the club and appreciating the new temporary venue’s dining establishments.

“The Food Truck Festival is another Diggers community event that is delivering on our promise to provide a taste of things to come.

“Now that daylight savings is upon us and given the launch of our very own food truck, Diggers Diner, we thought it would be timely to host a very special pop up Food Truck Festival to enable locals to enjoy an afternoon and evening of great food and entertainment,” said Mr Hunt.

The festival will offer a range of different fare options with everything from Australian street food to Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican and Chinese, plus waffles and hot dogs.

“We have almost a dozen renowned food trucks which will be part of our festival including De Wafel, Monster Rolls, Street Sliders, Cantina Movil, Lets Do Yum Cha, Trinhy’s Vietnamese, Shiso Fine Japanese and our very own Diggers Diner,” he continued.

“While we are busy developing our new intergenerational club on the western end of the site, our new look venue on the sunny northern side is open seven days a week and this festival will be an extension of our offering to entice locals to try some unique cuisines, while also supporting a good cause,” explained Mr Hunt.

Entry to the Diggers Food Truck Festival is free and the club is supporting Pink Ribbon Day through selling merchandise and collecting donations.

“Given we are hosting this special event in October we will be giving back to the Cancer Council and inviting attendees to donate or purchase Pink Ribbon merchandise at the event,” he added.

“Aside from the food, we will also have a range of classic and vintage cars on show thanks to our friends at the Sydney Machina Social Club and we have a great schedule of live entertainment playing in our Dig Inn beer garden with views of Curl Curl Beach,” concluded Mr Hunt.

The Harbord Diggers Food Truck Festival will be held on Thursday 20 October from 4pm to 9pm.

The classic cars will be on show from 6pm and live entertainment from 4pm. The festival will be held in the club open air carpark off Evans Street Freshwater. Entry is Free.
