Harbord Diggers give back $30,000 to local groups

Iconic Freshwater club Harbord Diggers is donating more than $30,000 to Northern Beaches community organisations as part of its 2017 ClubGRANTS program.
Harbord Diggers is delivering grants to Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, Early Education (EarlyEd), Be Centre Foundation, Fairlight/Manly Scouts and Literacy Network Manly Warringah.
Dale Hunt, General Manager of Harbord Diggers, said that all of the organisations receiving funding provide a vital community service to people living on the Northern Beaches.
“Harbord Diggers is proud to support a diverse range of local organisations through our ClubGRANTS program. This year, we are pleased to be contributing to organisations which benefit all facets of our community, such as providing support for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and equipping our local surf lifesaving club with essential surf safety equipment,” said Mr Hunt.
“This year, our ClubGRANTS funding has exceeded $30,000 and we look forward to further increasing contribution to worthwhile organisations and initiatives when the new Harbord Diggers opens,” he added.
Amongst the recipients is Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, which will receive a generous $17,000 grant to purchase critical safety equipment for local beach goers in the form of an Inflatable Rescue Boat.
“Harbord Diggers has enjoyed a strong relationship with Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club for many decades and we are thrilled to provide ongoing support to the Club through our annual ClubGRANTS program,” Mr Hunt said.
Harbord Diggers will also deliver funding to Be Centre Foundation, which will go toward Play Therapy Scholarships for disadvantaged and vulnerable children.
“Be Centre Foundation supports disadvantaged or at-risk children in our community and works with them to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing. Harbord Diggers is proud to be supporting such a valuable community organisation that positively impacts the lives of local children,” Mr Hunt added.
Other beneficiaries of this year’s funding include Fairlight/Manly Scouts, who will use their $9,000 grant to fund a new community room for their scout hall, as well as EarlyEd, an organisation which provides support for young children with disabilities or delays in their development, who will use the funding to develop a cubby house toy library.
Harbord Diggers has provided more than $190,000 in funding to local community organisations and projects through the ClubGRANTS program in the last five years. The club has indicated that it looks forward to providing more funds in the future as it moves toward the launch of its new state-of-the-art precinct in 2018.
These five organisations were presented with their grants at a special presentation last week at Mounties.
