Harbord Diggers' Innovation Gets Global Acclaim

19 Dec 2018

Less than six months since its rebirth and the new Harbord Diggers in Sydney’s Northern Beaches has already been recognised on the global stage for innovation and design.

Its enormous interactive video wall – a showpiece of the Diggers’ Stage One redevelopment – is now ranked among the world’s best interactive displays.

Featuring a dynamic marine backdrop and offering venue information via touch technology, the 12-screen spectacle located in the Diggers reception and entry, has won a finalist nomination at the 2019 International Digital Signage Awards.

Entries were received from a diverse array of countries around the globe including Japan, Norway, the USA, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey and the UK.

The Diggers’ screen was named finalist in the Innovation category for high profile sites with the Award ceremony to be held in Amsterdam on 6 February 2019.

The new Harbord Diggers was designed to develop a thriving intergenerational precinct that creates places that meet the residential, social and cultural needs of the Northern Beaches community, bringing people together of all ages to enjoy and relax.

Architecturally designed, the new venue interiors match the quality of the buildings in both design and style, with this interactive wall just one of many impressive features of the state-of-the-art new venue that is leading the way in club developments in Australia.

“When the project team sat down to design the reception and entry area of the new Diggers, they wanted something that would set it apart from anything else in Australia,” said Diggers’ General Manager Michael Phillips.

“The interactive video wall has lived up to expectations – and then some. It captivates our members and guests, both big and small. We get enormous satisfaction seeing the amazement of the faces of first-time visitors when they use it.

“This nomination is an exciting endorsement of our vision to make Diggers a world-renowned entertainment and lifestyle venue,” added Mr Phillips.

Opened on 30 June 2018 and perched on the spectacular headland between South Curl Curl and Freshwater beaches, the new Harbord Diggers is a one-of-a-kind intergenerational venue offering top class restaurants, bars, cafe, entertainment and outdoor leisure spaces, with a fitness and aquatic precinct to open in 2019 as part of the development’s final stage.
