Hoodoo Gurus Set Their Scene on Harbord Diggers
With the Diggers’ doors swinging open on Saturday 30 June, Harbord Diggers has announced that iconic Australian rock band the Hoodoo Gurus will perform at its state-of-the-art new venue with a special members event in the evening on opening day from 8.30pm.
Famous for acclaimed hits such as ‘What’s My Scene’, ‘I Want You Back’ and ‘My Girl’, the Aussie rockers will be sure to provide members with a night to remember in celebration of the opening of the historic club’s completed Stage One redevelopment project.
It’s been just over two years since Mounties Group commenced work on the intergenerational new precinct and locals and members alike are in for an array of new dining, entertainment and lifestyle options, with the Diggers’ legacy still beating at its heart.
Greg Pickering, Chief Executive Officer of Mounties Group, said that the Hoodoo Gurus performing at the new venue was a way to thank members and locals for their patience during the development process, yet also officially kick off the excitement and launch of the new venue.
“The Hoodoo Gurus are one of Australia’s greatest rock bands and we are absolutely thrilled they’ll be joining us for our official opening night.
“The performance is available exclusively to members, however a one-year membership to Harbord Diggers only costs $6 and people can sign up or renew now before this special opening event.
“While the Hoodoo Gurus will be performing on our opening night, we also have a huge schedule of entertainment during the day as well as free events and entertainment planned for the first few weeks. We are looking forward to having locals and Sydneysiders join us to experience our new precinct,” he added.
Aside from the Hoodoo Gurus performance, other entertainment planned for opening day on Saturday 30 June includes acoustic singers, an interactive circus workshop for the kids, fire dancers, jugglers, acrobats and DJ entertainment.
In addition to our launch day entertainment, the opening of the new Harbord Diggers will officially unveil the three new restaurants within the Diggers precinct, as well as the new bar, café and indoor play area.
One of the three restaurants in the new venue is AcquaFresca, brainchild of Giovanni and Marilyn of Pilu fame, which will offer authentic regional Italian cuisine in a relaxed setting within an unrivalled location.
A haven for meat-eaters and lovers of seafood, Teddy Larkin’s Seafood & Steakhouse will offer juicy cuts of meat, burgers and a succulent selection of ocean fresh catches, and WaterDragon, will pack a punch with a mouth-watering menu of Asian Pacific fusion cuisine.
“We have created a unique selection of high quality dining and stylish yet relaxed eateries, blending an exotic combination of flavours from around the globe.
“The superb quality of food will go hand in hand with our unmatched coastal vistas spanning across the horizon and into Curl Curl Beach,” Mr Pickering added.

The Hoodoo Gurus Members Event will be held on Saturday 30 June from 8.30pm. Day entertainment commences from 11.30am.
