Motor on into the Diggers for a Spin and Family Fun

27 Jun 2016

Harbord Diggers is buckling up with the Sydney Machina Social Club to bring a free family fun event in July that will have locals in a spin.

The Freshwater club has been hosting regular Machines and Macchiatos car events at the club since March, but July’s event will see a huge line up of entertainment, visual motor displays and even an ultimate ride experience.

The free event, to be held on Sunday 10 July from 9am, will kick off with a show and shine display with more than 100 cars and motorcycles set to be on exhibition. Entertainment for the whole family will then proceed until 12pm with live bands, a jumping castle, face painting, slot car track and photo booth.

General Manager of Harbord Diggers, Dale Hunt, is excited with the plans for July’s event given the success of the Machine and Macchiatos events over the last few months.

“Each month we see a fantastic turn out of vintage, classic and contemporary cars and motorcycles adorn our sunny carpark and at each event, we see more and more locals turning out to enjoy what is on display.

“From special muscle machines to vintage, classics, customs, rods, modern exotics and motorcycles the Sydney Machina Social Club has a great collection of member vehicles that entice even car novices,” said Dale.

Aside from the line-up of impressive machines in the show and shine display, the car club has also organised an exclusive ride experience.

The Shannon’s Ultimate Ride Experience will provide locals with the opportunity to pre-book a thrilling ride on the day in one of six unique cars.

“The Sydney Machina Social Club is offering this unique driving experience to locals wanting to enjoy a ride in one of six classic cars including a Ford Capri, Sachsenring Trabant, Shelby Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, Mini Cooper and Citroen 2CV,” continued Dale.

While the family fun day and car show is free, the Sydney Machina Social Club are raising funds from the Shannon’s Ultimate Ride Experience for three worthy charities - Beyond Blue, Men’s Shed NSW and Cure Brain Cancer, with rides from as little as $25.

“Each ride will be an approximate six kilometre round trip up to Dee Why then back to our club with varied times available for bookings. We encourage people to pre-book for this experience as there are limited spaces available,” added Dale.

The Charity Motor Show and Free Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday 10 July at the     Harbord Diggers club car park from 9am to 12pm. The event is open to the public with free entry. The Diggers Dig Inn café and Diggers Diner is open for breakfast and lunch, as well as the club’s rooftop bar & restaurant, Gio will be open for lunch on the day.
