Weekend Extravaganza To Launch Diggers' Health & Wellbeing Precinct

14 Oct 2019

Free exercise programs, live music, entertainment and family activities will headline a weekend-long celebration of Harbord Diggers’ new Health and Wellbeing precinct which marks the completion of Stage 2 of the redeveloped venue.

Harbord Diggers’ new Health & Wellbeing precinct has been opening progressively since August and offers the latest innovations in physical training, rehabilitation, swimming, childcare and anti-ageing.

To showcase this exciting new community hub, Harbord Diggers will host a Health & Wellbeing launch weekend on 26 and 27 October. From 9am to 5pm both days, the precinct will be abuzz with live music, roving entertainment, curated stalls and children’s activities. Free demonstrations will also give visitors an opportunity to experience first-hand the new services.

Harbord Diggers General Manager Michael Phillips said the club is anticipating a big turn-out for the launch weekend, given thousands have already frequented the precinct since the first businesses opened just two months ago.

“The first part of our Stage 2 operations has already become home to thousands of happy Northern Beaches locals with GFitness Freshwater largely regarded as a market leader in the highly competitive fitness arena,” said Michael.

“The launch weekend will give even more people a chance to come in and get a really close look at our expanded facilities,” he continued.

Among the activities set to be offered across the weekend are a free open workout in the new Concept G facilities, free member sessions of pilates and yoga by the ocean, and a health seminar hosted by former Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton.

There will also be body scans at the Diggers on both days.

Meanwhile, drawing upon over 60 years of experience and offering Olympic-pedigree coaching, Carlile Swimming opened the new aquatic centre last week and will be exhibiting to the public over the weekend. The state-of-the-art facility offers swimming instruction for all ages and abilities, including a dedicated learn to swim program.

Harbord Diggers’ Health & Wellbeing precinct also offers a dedicated beauty salon Urban Beauty and has seen early success with its physiotherapy offering, Rebound Health and parenting business, Beaches Baby.

“Joining GFitness Freshwater and Carlile Swimming is Urban Beauty who have been part of the Northern Beaches community for more than 15 years. Urban Beauty offers beauty and wellbeing treatments and is expanding its already successful salon at Warringah Mall,” said Michael.

“To celebrate this special launch weekend GFitness will be offering a range of health and wellness activities with multiple stall holders available for demonstrations and information,” he continued.

It was over eight years ago that valued club members and the local community told the Diggers what they wanted in the new venue and this launch weekend aims to showcase the abundance of new offerings at the Freshwater location.

“The completion of Stage 2 is the realisation of our vision to create a fully integrated lifestyle and community club, where people can look after themselves, eat, drink and be entertained,” concluded Michael.
