Mounties Supports Liverpool District Men's Shed with Charity Poker Tournament
Mounties plans to take advantage of the growing popularity of poker by turning one of its regular poker tournaments into a major fundraiser for the Liverpool District Men's Shed, a community group that aims to enhance the happiness and health of men. Members and guests are invited to get behind the cause and register for the Charity Poker Tournament to be hosted at Mounties’ Starz Room on Sunday, 30 July.
The Liverpool District Men’s Shed social enterprise supports the South-Western Sydney community and is a non-profit organisation with the objective of advancing the wellbeing of their male members. Liverpool District Men's Shed president Alvan Freeman said: "As the only Men’s Shed within the Liverpool Local Government Area, the Liverpool District Men’s Shed is a vital space for members to work on meaningful projects in their own time and in the company of other men in the community."
Mounties Group Board of Directors has generously offered to match funds raised on the day up to the value of $5,000. Entry into the tournament is $10 and members and guests have until 3.00pm for unlimited buy-ins, maximising fundraising opportunities.
The Mounties Grand Champion winner of the tournament will receive a year’s worth of free poker games at Mounties. Other great prizes include sports jerseys signed by sports stars including former Penrith, NSW and Australian rugby league player, Mark Geyer, the Canterbury Bulldogs, the 2017 North Melbourne Football Club, as well as passes to Taranga Zoo, Powerhouse Museum and many more attractions.
A club-wide raffle will take place and the championship UFC 214 fight will be shown during the event, followed by a normal Sunday Poker schedule.
