More locals across the Northern Beaches and Western Sydney will be looking good and feeling better thanks to Mounties Group grant of $23,000 towards the Look Good Feel Better program, operated by the Cancer Patients Foundation. Made possible through the combined contributions from Harbord Diggers, Triglav and Mounties ClubGRANTS 2023 the grant will help cancer patients in managing the physical, psychological and social impacts of cancer treatment.
Look Good Feel Better is a free community service program that offers a variety of workshops, both face-to-face and virtual, aimed at helping cancer patients of all ages, genders and cancer types, manage some of the side effects of their treatment journey. From skincare techniques to makeup tips and advice on headwear and general wellbeing, the program equips participants with practical strategies to maintain their confidence and sense of self throughout cancer treatment.
“With no government funding, the Cancer Patients Foundation relies on the generosity of corporate and community supporters like Mounties Group to provide the Look Good Feel Better program free-of-charge,” said Carol Kavurma, General Manager of Look Good Feel Better.
This donation from Mounties Group’s clubs has already impacted the lives of 230 individuals across Sydney in the past year, supporting them throughout their cancer treatment journey.
“The incredible support of Mounties Group across three communities in New South Wales has enabled us to support another 230 people undergoing treatments for cancer in the last 12 months,” she added.
Participants are gifted with a Confidence Kit brimming with skincare and makeup essentials, serving as invaluable tools to support the technique they are taught in the face-to-face Look Good Feel Better workshops. The virtual workshops on skincare, makeup, and ‘Wigs and Headwear’ are not only live and interactive but also provide cancer patients with a unique opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges, all from the comfort of their homes.
Look Good Feel Better also offers ‘Feel Better Fridays’, an essential resource aimed at empowering cancer patients with practical strategies to enhance fitness, mobility and mental wellbeing through virtual workshops. Feel Better Fridays covers a range of topics such as exercise, nutrition, chair yoga, healthy cooking, meditation, and emotional freedom technique .
“Through the contributions from Mounties, Harbord Diggers and Triglav, Mounties Group is pleased to support the Look Good Feel Better program, knowing the significant impact it has on the lives of cancer patients,” said Mounties Group President, John Dean.
“We believe in the importance of supporting our community, especially during challenging times, and we are honoured to play a part in providing comfort and assistance to those affected by cancer,” he added.
