New Harbord Diggers Sets Benchmark For Retirement Living

18 Mar 2020

Harbord Diggers has released a new 3D animation video that depicts what we can expect from the new Mounties Group development. The fly through footage reiterates why this $160 million development in Freshwater will become the world benchmark for a seniors’ accommodation development that integrates all generations into a sense of community.

Set atop the picturesque headland that overlooks Freshwater and Curl Curl beaches, the new Harbord Diggers development by Mounties Group is considered a world first, with the creation of a truly intergenerational community hub.

The new precinct will offer the finest restaurants, bars and outdoor areas, paired with access to premium fitness and aquatic facilities, wellbeing services, a long day childcare centre and one of the most unique retirement communities to be developed in Australia, Watermark Freshwater.
The seniors living residences that are part of the Diggers redevelopment comprise of 96 high-end, architecturally designed apartments priced from $1.5 million. Watermark Freshwater has now sold 73 of its 96 apartments off the plans with the first residents to move in as part of stage 1 in early 2018.
Watermark Freshwater Sales Manager Miranda Aiello said that the apartments that have sold to date have done so with very little advertising, but rather a proven demand by local buyers.

“The luxurious appeal of the apartments has proved extremely popular amongst buyers, who consider Watermark Freshwater to be a refreshing change from more traditional retirement communities,” said Ms Aiello. “There is huge demand for high-end retirement communities like Watermark Freshwater that cater to active over 55s who want to enjoy a leisurely lifestyle in an exquisitely designed apartment, with access to all the facilities you would need at your doorstep. “The appeal of spacious, modern accommodation in a location close to the beach and other services as well as an opportunity to become part of an active community is what is most desired,” added Ms Aiello.

Stage 1 of the new Harbord Diggers redevelopment includes the new club facilities and hospitality venues, Explore & Develop Freshwater childcare centre and majority of the Watermark Freshwater apartments.
Only 11 Watermark Freshwater apartments remain available in the first stage which are due for completion in February 2018. Remaining apartments in the final stage are due for completion in September 2019.
“Once the first 68 apartments are occupied early next year we expect there will be a rush for the remaining apartments as part of stage 2.

The opening of Stage 1 of the new Harbord Diggers is set to commence from February 2018 with Explore & Develop Freshwater and Watermark Freshwater, followed by the new club hospitality precinct expected to launch in April/May 2018.

Stage 2, which includes the fitness and aquatic centre and remaining residences, is planned for completion in 2019. An independent source* has said that Watermark Freshwater will be the new benchmark in ‘community’ – and price and that “our prediction is it will become the world benchmark for a seniors’ accommodation development that integrates all ages of a family into a sense of community”.
